Ingredients

  • 1 pie crust large enough to fit a 9-inch pie pan
  • 1 lb ground beef 80%-20% fat
  • ½ large sweet onion diced
  • 2 garlic cloves minced
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 2 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp dijon mustard
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • ¾ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • ¼ cup whole milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 400F. Spray a 9-inch pie pan lightly with nonstick cooking spray. Line the pan with the pie crust. Cut off excess if necessary.
  • In a skillet, start browning the ground beef. After 5 minutes of cooking, add in the onions and cook for 4-5 minutes more, until the onions are just translucent. Add in the garlic, stir and cook for a minute more. Drain the excess fat and return to the skillet.
  • Stir in the Worcestershire sauce, ketchup, mustard, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and oregano. Cook for 2 minutes, then remove from the heat. Pour the ground beef mixture into a large mixing bowl. Allow to cool for 5 minutes.
  • Stir in the panko breadcrumbs and milk. Quickly stir in the egg so it doesn't cook. Add in 1 cup of shredded cheese and mix. Pour the ground beef mixture into the pie crust, spreading to level it out. Top with the remaining cheese.
  • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese on top is golden. Allow to cool for 10 minutes so the pie can be set before you cut into it. Top with your favorite burger toppings.
