A smoothie that is a healthy yet sweet treat! Chocolate-covered strawberries in a drink form. This smoothie is completely customizable with dairy-free ingredients. Lucious, creamy, and perfect for when you’re craving chocolate for breakfast.

This smoothie was one of the best ideas I’ve had in a while! I don’t have a blender, so I used a food processor for most smoothies. I wanted something sweet yet healthy that can be done easily before work in the morning. It’s also a great treat to give to your significant other on Valentine’s Day and can make a delicious addition to your Mother’s Day breakfast. You can also add a bit of protein to it such as chocolate protein powder or chia seeds.

How to make a Chocolate Strawberry Smoothie

The best part about a smoothie is how easily it comes together. You just need to gather your ingredients, blend them up, and take it with you or enjoy it right at your dining table with a well-balanced breakfast.

  • Frozen Strawberries
  • Banana
  • Milk, Dairy or Dairy-Free such as Almond or Oat milk
  • Peanut Butter, Almond Butter or Sunflower Seed Butter
  • Cocoa Powder
  • Honey or Maple Syrup

Tips & FAQs

  • Storage: Keep in a covered jar in the fridge for up to 2 days. It will start to separate a bit, so you make have to blend it again with some ice if it thins out.
  • What if I want to use fresh strawberries? You can use fresh over frozen, however, keep in mind that you will need to add ice so it thickens up. Reduce the strawberries to 1 cup and add 1 cup of ice. Blend as normal.
  • Variations:
    • Swap the frozen strawberries for frozen raspberries.
    • Substitute the usual regular cocoa powder for a dark chocolate flavor powder. You should be able to find it at your local grocery. Dark chocolate is better for you (which is why I love it so much!)
    • Make it Dairy-Free: substitute milk for dairy-free options such as almond or oat milk.
    • Make it Nut-Free: use sunflower seed butter instead of peanut or almond butter.
